Mike Rose Teaching Law and Society and Guiding Model United Nations

A Miramonte High School teacher in Orinda, California, Michael "Mike" Rose, developed the Law and Society course, coordinating with the English department. Mike Rose set up a cross-curricular collaboration process that enabled the development of common core standards.

As a teacher, Mike Rose helped ensure that students gained foundational professional development skills that would prepare them well for higher education and rewarding careers. In addition, he guided a Model United Nations (UN) team that expanded to become among the top 20 ranked teams worldwide. The two-day annual Contra Costa County Model United Nations Conference allowed students to represent assigned nations on complex topics such as equitable access to clean water and sanitation.

Mike Rose has a background in sports writing for FanSided. He covered St. Mary's College Gaels Basketball games while composing occasional articles on the NBA Draft and professional teams such as the Oakland Raiders. He earned his MA in education at St. Mary's College in Moraga. Mike Rose enjoys playing golf, pool, ping-pong, and board games in his free time.
